What To Pack For The Right Camping Trip Based On Season And How Long The Trip Is

Packing right can seriously make or break a trip. Here’s a flexible guide to help you prep based on season and trip length. Super handy whether you’re doing a weekend warrior trip or a longer wilderness escape!

🏕️ Camping Essentials – All Trips

These are your baseline packing must-haves:

Shelter & Sleep

  • Tent (with stakes/guylines)
  • Tarp or footprint (under the tent)
  • Sleeping bag (appropriate temp rating)
  • Sleeping pad or air mattress
  • Pillow or packable camp pillow
  • Blanket (nice for extra warmth or picnic)

Cooking & Food

  • Portable stove or grill
  • Fuel/propane
  • Lighter & waterproof matches
  • Cookware (pots, pan, spatula)
  • Eating utensils & dishes
  • Cooler + ice packs
  • Food (prepped meals, snacks, etc.)
  • Trash bags
