Campfire Fajita
Fajita is a popular recipe and we are going to show you how to make it!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) boneless chicken breasts or beef steak, sliced into thin strips
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fajita seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Tortillas for wrapping fajita (flour or corn)
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, chopped cilantro, etc.
Instructions:
- Prepare the campfire: Build a fire and let it burn down to hot coals. You should have a good bed of hot coals for even cooking.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced chicken or beef, bell pepper, onion, olive oil, fajita seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until the fajita meat and vegetables are well coated.
- Take a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil and place the chicken or beef, bell pepper, and onion mixture in the center. Fold the foil tightly to create a packet, ensuring there are no openings for the fajita juices to leak out.
- Place the foil packet on the hot coals of the campfire. Let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken or beef is cooked through and the vegetables are tender. Carefully flip the packet halfway through cooking to ensure even heat distribution.
- While the fajita mixture is cooking, warm the tortillas on a grill grate or directly over the campfire flames for a few seconds on each side until they are pliable and lightly toasted.
- Once the fajita mixture is cooked, carefully open the foil packet. Be cautious of the hot steam that may escape. Stir the contents to combine everything.
- Serve the fajita mixture in warm tortillas and add your desired toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, or chopped cilantro.
- Enjoy your delicious campfire fajitas!
Note: If you don’t have access to a campfire, you can also prepare this recipe on a grill or stovetop using a skillet or grill pan. Simply cook the fajita mixture over medium-high heat until the meat is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
